Vent: My Monday morning coffee ritual completely fell apart this week

I woke up late, spilled half my freshly ground beans on the floor, then realized my milk was sour. By the time I took a sip of the sad cup I managed to salvage, it was already cold. Has anyone else had a day where every single step of your morning brew just goes wrong?

Read somewhere that coffee rituals are actually just coping mechanisms dressed up in fancy language. @willow_martin makes a good point about backup plans. My own routine fell apart two weeks ago when my grinder died mid-grind and I had to chew on a whole bean like a cow just to feel awake. Keeping a jar of instant in the back of the pantry has saved me more times than I like to admit.

You said "my Monday morning coffee ritual completely fell apart" but honestly it sounds like it was NEVER really a ritual to begin with. A ritual is something you've done so many times it's basically automatic, not something that falls apart the SECOND one thing goes wrong. Real coffee rituals have backup plans like keeping instant coffee in the cupboard for emergencies or having a pour-over setup as a backup.
