Took me 4 months to fix a simple sour espresso shot issue
Ngl, I kept chasing fancy beans and grinder settings when the real problem was my water temperature being 5 degrees off. Has anyone else spent way too long on one tiny fix that should have been obvious?

Hold on, is it really that serious though? 4 months obsessing over a 5 degree water temp swing sounds like a lot of stress over a cup of coffee. I mean, sure it tasted off but I've had plenty of sour shots that were still drinkable after a splash of milk or a little sugar. Seems like you might have been chasing perfection instead of just making a decent morning brew.

Wait are you really telling me you've never had a shot that was so sour it tasted like straight up lemon juice? Because that's what we're talking about here, not just a little off. I've had plenty of sour shots I could fix with milk too but when the temp is off by 5 degrees for months it's not just one bad cup, it's every single cup being a waste of good beans. And honestly if someone enjoys tinkering with their setup to get it perfect why does that bother anyone? Some of us like the hobby part of making coffee, not just the caffeine fix.
