An old timer in Dayton told me my speeds and feeds were way too high for aluminum.

Honestly, I was running a 3/8 end mill at 10,000 rpm and 80 ipm on some 6061 parts. He pulled me aside after a job and said, 'Kid, you're gonna burn up tools and wear out your spindle pushing it that hard.' I dropped it down to 6,500 rpm and 50 ipm, and my tool life tripled. Anyone else get a piece of advice that totally changed your setup?

My buddy was running a finishing pass on steel way too slow, leaving a terrible finish. Some crusty guy in his shop saw it and just said "you're scared of it, feed it harder." He cranked the feed way up on the next part and it came out like glass. Totally changed how he thinks about chip load.
