Tried mealworm farming for my compost, now my kitchen has a tiny protein farm

Got a $40 mealworm starter kit last month to speed up compost breakdown. Those things ate through a half head of lettuce in 2 days and now I accidentally have 300 of them in a plastic bin on my counter. Has anyone actually scaled this up without their roommate threatening to move out?
