TIL my local coffee shop's compost bin saved me from throwing away 20 pounds of kitchen scraps a week
I was at Third Wave Brews in Portland last month grabbing my usual and noticed they had a sign about taking community compost. Turns out they partner with a local farm to pick up food waste every Tuesday. Now I just drop off my veggie peels and eggshells there instead of sending them to the landfill. Anyone else find a random drop spot like this that made reducing waste way easier?

That "saved me from throwing away" part really hits different now.

That "saved me from throwing away" line got me thinking too, mostly about all the stuff I mistakenly composted that probably shouldn't have been in there. I once tossed an old leather wallet in my bin thinking it was biodegradable, oops. Guess we're all learning this waste reduction thing one weird mistake at a time.
