My neighbor insisted I get a heat pump water heater instead of a new gas one...
He said the $800 rebate from the city and lower electric bill would make up for the higher price in two years, and he was right. Has anyone else made a switch like that and been surprised by the savings?

My buddy did the same thing and his electric bill dropped way more than he expected. The rebate really does make it a no-brainer.

Tell me more about that rebate. Was it a state thing or through his power company? I'm trying to figure out if my area has something similar because my bill is killing me this summer. How much did his bill actually go down, like a rough percentage?
