My fancy smart thermostat broke in the middle of a heatwave last July
I was so proud of myself for upgrading to this $250 Nest knockoff last spring, thinking I'd save on energy bills and be a climate hero. Then the AC went out on a Tuesday when it hit 97 degrees here in Nashville. Turns out the thermostat just straight up died, screen went blank, and I spent two hours sweating on YouTube trying to fix it. I ended up digging out my old basic honeywell from the junk drawer and wiring it back in with a screwdriver and some swears. That cheap dinosaur has been running fine for 3 weeks now with zero issues. Kinda makes me wonder if all that fancy tech is really worth the e-waste when it fails so fast. Anyone else have a 'smart' device crap out on them way too soon?

How long did you have that Nest knockoff before it died? I'm curious if it was like a year or two or if it crapped out even faster.
