A lady in a Denver apartment building gave me the best tip I've ever gotten
I was finishing up a hallway job in this old brick building, you know the type with those tiny, uneven floors... I was on my knees trimming the last piece by the door when the lady from apartment 3B came out. She must have been watching for a while because she said, 'Son, you've got the patience of a saint with that seam.' She told me her dad was a carpet man for forty years and he always kept a little spray bottle of rubbing alcohol in his kit. Said if you mist the backing of a tricky piece just a bit, it lets you slide it into place for a perfect fit without stretching it out of shape. I tried it on the next job and it worked like a charm on some stubborn berber. Has anyone else heard of this trick or have a different one for tight spots?
