A guy at the hardware store changed my whole view on planting trees
I was buying a shovel in Springfield last fall, and this older guy named Frank saw me. He asked if I was planting just one, and when I said yes, he told me his story. He spent 20 years planting a single oak in his yard every year, and now his whole street is cooler in the summer. He said, 'One is good, but one a year is a legacy.' It really stuck with me. Anyone else try a small, yearly habit like that?

Yeah "one a year is a legacy" is a great way to put it. It's like that with a lot of stuff, small habits just build up without you even noticing. Makes me want to pick something and just stick with it.

Disagree on the small habits thing. They don't always build up. I tried writing one sentence a day for a year. Ended up with a bunch of random notes, not a book. Felt like a chore, not a legacy. Sometimes the small stuff just stays small.
