That old widow on Elm Street who asked me to stay for tea after I cleaned her flue
She pointed at a soot streak on her mantel and said 'that's been there since my husband passed in '89, never had the heart to wipe it off.' Had me wondering how many other things we sweep away that people actually want to keep.
