That time my nephew proved me wrong about Legos
I used to think old school Legos were better than the new sets. Then my 8 year old nephew brought over his Lego Creator dinosaur set last Saturday. He showed me how the instructions were split into three different builds you can rotate through. I watched him take it apart and rebuild it into a different dinosaur in under an hour. It totally changed my mind about modern sets being just licensed cash grabs. Anyone else get convinced by a younger relative showing you something?

My own kid did the same thing to me with the Lego Creator cars. I was always a space and castle guy from the 80s, so I figured the new stuff was all just movie tie-ins. But she brought home this Creator fire truck that turned into a helicopter and then a speedboat. Watching her switch between builds without any help made me realize those 3-in-1 sets are actually cleverly designed for kids to reuse pieces in different ways. It really opened my eyes to how much thought goes into those modern Creator sets compared to the simple brick boxes I grew up with.

A buddy of mine had the exact same eye opener with his son and the Creator dinosaur sets. He kept saying how the old ones were just big blocks you stacked and the new ones actually had joints and moving parts like real models. Now he's the one buying the new Creator sets for himself and telling me about the alternate builds, never thought I'd see him get excited about Lego again after the 90s.
