Pulled out my old Lite-Brite from 1985 and learned a weird lesson about bulbs

I dusted off my original Lite-Brite from when I was a kid, you know the one with the black cardboard and plastic pegs. I set it up on my dining table last Saturday thinking my nephew would love it. Instead of using the original little incandescent bulb, I swapped in an LED bulb I had lying around from a desk lamp. The thing lit up way brighter but the colors looked totally off, kind of washed out and cold. I realized the warm glow of the old bulb is actually part of the magic for those pegs. Now I'm hunting online for a replacement vintage bulb to get that exact 80s look back. Has anyone else tried modern bulbs in old light toys and gotten a weird result?

85 LEDs in a Lite-Brite is like putting neon tires on a horse and buggy.

Haha, @troy_palmer76 that's a great way to put it. Honestly, it's like putting a spoiler on a minivan.
