The line was 30 minutes long and I watched the same guy drop his phone 3 times
I was stuck behind a dude at the Walmart on 14th street who kept dropping his phone, bending down to grab it, then dropping his wallet instead. Has anyone else noticed how weirdly patient everyone gets when one person is having a rough day?

the one that got me was at the grocery self checkout when the lady in front of me kept scanning the same can of beans over and over and the machine just kept beeping at her. i just stood there and let her figure it out cause honestly i've been that person before and the worst part is when someone sighs loud enough for you to hear. what helped me was remembering how grateful i was the last time someone gave me a minute to fix my own mess without making it weird.

honestly tho isn't it kinda refreshing when someone's having a literal nightmare in public and nobody loses their mind? like i feel like we're all so used to getting annoyed at every little thing that when someone just stands there and lets the universe beat them up for 10 minutes it's almost therapeutic to watch. i was at target last week watching a mom try to pay with the wrong card 4 times while her toddler screamed and the cashier just smiled. maybe we all need to stop pretending efficiency is the only thing that matters.
