Spent $12 on a 'claw' avocado tool and it was a total joke
I thought it would help me slice and pit avocados faster in the checkout line of my mind... nope, the claw part just bent on the first hard avocado I tried. Has anyone else thrown money at a kitchen gadget that failed instantly?

That $12 claw thing is basically a glorified bottle opener with bad ergonomics. I'm curious what made you grab it over just using a knife and spoon like everyone else. Was it the packaging demo that sold you, or did it actually seem sturdy in the store?

Fair enough on the "glorified bottle opener" point but honestly the ergonomics are way better than people give it credit for, the rubberized grip actually lets you get a good twist without slipping like a wet bar of soap. Grabbed it because the demo showed it prying off a tight soda cap in one smooth motion, tried that with a spoon at home and nearly bent the handle on a stubborn jar. Plus it has that satisfying click when it locks into place, feels more solid than the flimsy plastic openers I break every six months.
