Why I gave up my standing desk after 9 months of back pain
I used to swear by standing desks, thought sitting was killing me slowly. I bought a fancy one last January, used it every single workday for 9 months. My lower back got worse, not better, and my feet ached by 3pm like clockwork. My chiropractor in Austin told me to alternate every 45 minutes, which I tried, but honestly the constant adjusting broke my focus. I switched back to a regular desk with a cheap footrest and I feel way better, anyone else ditch the standing desk for a simple chair?.

The whole "thought sitting was killing me slowly" part hit me right in the gut, because that's exactly the fear that sold me my standing desk too. I ended up doing the same thing as you, just on a shorter timeline of about 4 months before my hips started complaining like an old car. My trick now is a stack of old textbooks under my monitor and a footrest made from a shoebox, which is about as high tech as my posture gets. I've basically learned that my body will find something to ache about no matter what, so I might as well pick the cheapest option.
