Vent: I thought power stretching was overkill until a job in Mesa changed my mind
I used to think a power stretcher was just extra hassle and would only pull by hand or with a knee kicker on most rooms, including a 40 yard berber job I did last month in Mesa. My back was wrecked and the carpet still had a ripple by the doorway when the homeowner walked in, so I borrowed a power stretcher from a guy named Ray and the whole thing laid flat in half the time. Am I the only one who waited too long to make the switch, or did you guys always know the knee kicker was never enough?
Man I feel this in my bones. I kicked carpets for years thinking a stretcher was for guys who didn't know how to pull hard enough, and my knees are paying for it now. Had a stretch-in on some cheap berber where the kicker just would not get that last wrinkle out by the closet, and the lady noticed it right away. Borrowed a power stretcher after that and it was night and day, flat as a board and my back didn't hate me the next morning. That ripple by the doorway is exactly the kind of thing that comes back to bite you too, so you're not alone in waiting way too long.
