That one Friday in July where everything clicked
I had a job in a 3 bedroom house out in Naperville a couple months back and the stars just aligned - the padding rolled out perfect, seams matched up on the first try, and the homeowner tipped me $80 cash after I finished. Has anyone else had a day where the carpet gods just smiled on you and everything went smoother than butter?

Hold up a second, I gotta disagree with you on that. That "mirage" talk is a bit much. I had a day last spring where I was installing some plush carpet in a model home, and everything from the tack strip to the seam iron worked like a dream. The homeowner even brought out lemonade and thanked me for being so careful with her baseboards. It wasn't some weird setup for a bad job, it was just a good day. Writing it off as a trick from the carpet gods seems harsh when sometimes the work just lines up right.

Honestly, I gotta push back on this a little. Tbh, I've been doing this for a while and that kind of perfect day feels more like a mirage than a blessing. Ngl, when everything goes that smooth, I get suspicious it's just setting me up for a nightmare job later that week. I've had days where the seams lined up perfect and the pad laid flat, then the next job the glue wouldn't stick and the pattern didn't match no matter what I did. So yeah, enjoy the $80 tip, but don't start believing the carpet gods are on your side permanently.
