I thought those magnetic wristbands for holding screws were a total gimmick until I tried one on a roof job.
Did a whole fascia replacement in Buffalo last fall without dropping a single fastener. What's a tool you were wrong about?

Hold up, you did a fascia job in Buffalo and didn't drop a single screw? That's wild. I've worked up there and the wind alone would steal a wrench out of your hand. Those magnetic bands must be way stronger than the cheap ones I tried years ago. I guess the tech really did get better.

Honestly the bigger game changer for me was switching to a cordless screw gun with a built in magnetic bit holder. The bands help, but having that strong pull right at the tip means the screw is basically locked in until you drive it. I mean, you still get gusts that try to rip the whole strip out of your hand, but at least the fastener itself isn't going anywhere. The old style bands would just kinda flap around and lose their grip after a season in the sun.
