Rant: My 'dream job' offer turned out to be a $2k pay cut after I did the math

Recruiter in Chicago sold me on 'amazing growth potential' and I almost took it, but adding up commute, parking, and the fact they didn't match my 401k made it way worse than my current gig. Anyone else had a shiny title hide a worse total package?
