My old manager was right about setting calendar blocks for deep work

He told me to reserve 90 minutes every morning with no meetings, and after 6 months of trying it at my new job, I'm getting twice as much done. Anyone else find that carving out that specific time slot helps more than just generic focus time?

Wait, do you find that the 90 minute block works better when you do the same type of work each day, or do you mix it up depending on what's urgent?

Is it really that deep though? I feel like people overthink this stuff way too much. @morgan915 I just look at my inbox and whatever is screaming loudest gets the first 90 minutes, sometimes it's emails, sometimes it's project work. Mixing it up keeps it from feeling like Groundhog Day in my opinion. Same thing every day would bore me to tears honestly.
