Left a steady $52k job in Dayton for a $61k startup role and lasted 7 months
Back in 2022 I had a comfy state job in Dayton, $52k a year, pension, and basically zero stress. Then a startup offered me $61k plus stock to run their whole onboarding program, and I jumped at the title bump. Seven months later they ran out of funding and I was gone, while the state job had already moved on without me. I've been back at a state agency for 6 months now making $49k and I still wonder if chasing the extra cash was worth the detour. Has anyone else gone back to the safe job after a startup gamble, and did the money ever catch back up?
