Paid $950 to ship my truck from Phoenix to Portland and I will never cheap out on a broker again
Two years ago I had my old Tacoma moved from Phoenix up to Portland and went with the cheapest quote I could find at $650, which turned into a nightmare when the driver showed up 11 days late with a busted tail light. This time I paid $950 through a broker who actually vets the carriers, and the truck arrived in 4 days with zero damage and a driver who texted me updates. The extra $300 was the difference between sweating for two weeks and just going about my life. Cheap carriers subcontract your load to whoever is closest, and you have no idea who is touching your vehicle. Has anyone actually had a good experience going with the lowest bidder, or is that just a myth at this point?
Had something like that happen with a couch I bought off some guy. Drove 3 hours to get it because the price was crazy low, got there and the thing smelled like wet dog and cigarettes. Ended up renting a truck and buying a new one the next weekend, cost me double in the end. Same deal with your truck, the cheap price is just the start of the story. You pay once with cash or twice with stress.
