Warning: I thought those single wall titanium mugs were a dumb trend for years
For the longest time, I stuck with my old reliable enamel mug from a thrift store. I figured a $50 titanium cup was just for people who wanted to show off. Then, on a five day trip in the White Mountains last fall, my friend brought one. I saw him boil water right in it over his stove, drink his coffee, and then pack it away without a second thought. No handle to burn, it weighed nothing, and it didn't hold smells. I borrowed it one morning and the heat spread was so even my coffee didn't get that weird burnt taste. I finally bought one myself, a 450ml model, and it's the only cup I pack now. Has anyone else had a piece of gear they wrote off for way too long?

Yeah the "weird burnt taste" from other mugs is so real. I read a blog once that said titanium heats way more evenly, which makes sense now.

Totally get that about the weird taste! My old ceramic mug would make my afternoon coffee taste like a campfire. That blog might be onto something with the heating thing. Makes me wonder if the mug shape changes how the heat moves around too.
