The day I flipped my sleeping bag and finally slept warm
I've been camping in the Pacific Northwest for about 5 years and always froze at night, even with a 20 degree bag. Last month I was setting up at a spot near Mt. Hood and another camper asked why my footbox was at my head. I looked at him confused, then he showed me the drawcord was supposed to be at the bottom. Turns out I had been putting my head in the footbox area the whole time, so the insulation was bunched around my feet. After I switched it around, I slept so warm I actually had to unzip it at 2am. Has anyone else missed something this obvious with their gear for way too long?

Oh man, that's wild. I actually read about this exact thing in a camping forum a while back, some folks were saying the footbox is tapered on purpose so your feet have room to move around without pushing the insulation down. I never woulda thought to check the drawcord though, that's sneaky. Glad you finally got a warm night in, that's gotta be a game changer for trips up there.
