That one guy at a state park who changed how I pack my tent
I was at Hocking Hills State Park last June setting up my tent in the rain, and this older dude walks over and just hands me a dry sack. He said 'Stop trying to keep the tent dry, just let it get wet and dry it later, focus on your sleeping bag instead.' Honestly, it sounds obvious but I'd been wrestling with wet tent fabric for years. Has anyone else had a stranger give you unsolicited advice that actually stuck?

Met an old timer who told me to ditch tent stakes and just tie my tent to rocks.
