That moment my tent nearly flooded on a rainy night in the Smokies

I set up my tent on a slight slope for 6 years thinking it was fine, then a storm hit and water pooled right under my sleeping bag. Turned out I was pitching the rain fly too loose and not staking out the corners properly. Anyone else realize they've been doing a basic camping skill wrong for way too long?

Oh man, I don't know if this is that big of a deal. @quinn_king16, plenty of people don't even stake out their rain fly at all and they're fine in light rain. I've had water drip on my face from a loose fly before and I just rolled over and went back to sleep. Unless you're in a full on downpour for hours, a little water under your tent is usually just dampness, not a life or death situation.

Six years and nobody told you the fly was loose?
