So my buddy insisted I try his new camping hammock, and wow.

Last month, my friend kept going on about this camping hammock he got. He was so pumped that he let me borrow it for a weekend trip. I'm a tent guy usually, but I decided to try it out. Setting it up took minutes, just strap it between two trees. I actually slept great, even through some light rain. My friend was totally right, it made my backpacking trip way more comfortable. Anyone have stories about gear tips from friends that paid off big time?

Oh man, the bad advice thing is so real! A buddy swore by this "ultra light" rain jacket he found online, and I bought the same one. Totally soaked through in a light drizzle, not even a real storm. You have to wonder where these tips even start sometimes! It makes a good win, like that hammock, feel extra lucky.
