Ran a new line through a 1940s house in Richmond and the knob and tube taught me something
Figured I'd just fish the coax along the old wiring path, but every stud bay had a surprise waiting and it turned a 2 hour job into 7. Old houses don't care about your drill bits or your plans, they just do what they want. Anyone else learned to double their time estimate the second you see fabric wrapped wire?
Seven hours for a coax run sounds more like bad luck than a rule. I've fished lines through plenty of old Richmond houses and half the time the knob and tube path is actually the easiest route since the holes are already there. Sometimes you hit a fire block or a diagonal brace and yeah that eats an hour, but doubling your estimate the second you spot fabric wire seems like overkill. Maybe the real issue was expecting the old bays to line up with the new wall layout.
