That $400 edgebander attachment burned me on a kitchen job in Nashville
Picked up a portable edgebander attachment for my trim router thinking it would speed up a 24 door cabinet job. Cost me $400 and three days of fighting with it. The glue never melted even, kept getting gaps on the curved ends. Ended up finishing the whole thing by hand with iron on banding like I always did. Took twice as long and the money is gone. Has anyone actually had good luck with those cheap portable units, or is hand applying still the way to go?

Oh man, that is painful. Nothing worse than spending real money on a tool that just fights you the whole way. I bet those curved ends were a nightmare, that is usually where those attachments fall apart. I have seen guys swear by them for straight runs but the second you hit a curve it is a whole different ballgame. At least you know the hand method works, sometimes that $400 lesson is just the price of confirming what you already knew.
