Soft close hinges vs standard ones - do yourself a favor
I finally swapped out all the standard hinges on a kitchen job in Austin last month and went with soft close. Took maybe 2 extra hours to install but the difference is night and day. No more slamming doors, clients are way happier, and honestly it just feels more solid. Has anyone else made the switch and noticed a big difference in how clients react?

Oh man, preach. I did the same thing on a kitchen reno back in March and thought I was being extra. Now every time I visit a house with standard hinges I'm just waiting for the slam. The clients don't say much but you can tell they notice the difference. My invoice went up maybe 60 bucks total for the hinges themselves and not a single person has complained.

Rolled my eyes a little reading this. Soft close hinges are nice and all but clients are acting like you installed magic hinges that cure world hunger. I put them in my own kitchen last year and yeah they close quietly, but stovetop grease still caked all over them within a month. Feels more solid? Maybe. But I bet your invoice went up way more than 2 hours of labor.
