Had to choose between prefinished plywood and hand-finishing on a kitchen job last month - picked wrong
Customer wanted that super smooth look on Shaker doors. I figured prefinished maple ply would save time on the boxes. Big mistake. The color match with the face frames was off by a mile even with the same brand. Spent 2 extra days sanding and touching up. Shoulda just stuck with hand-finishing everything from the start like I usually do. Anyone else run into this color mismatch headache?

Nah man, I gotta disagree. Prefinished ply is a lifesaver if you match the line correctly. Sounds like the real issue was not testing the color on a scrap piece first.

Whoa wait, you actually matched the line perfectly on the first try?
