My habit tracker failed for 5 straight months, then I flipped it around
I kept a monthly habit tracker in my bullet journal for half a year, and every single month the boxes stayed empty by week two. It wasn't laziness, I was just sick of seeing a big grid of failure staring at me every morning. So last month at my desk in Austin, I ditched the grid and went with a simple one-line log where I only write down the days I actually did the habit. No blank boxes, no guilt, just a running list that gets longer as the month goes on. It sounds backwards, but only tracking wins made me want to keep the streak alive. By the 28th I had 23 entries, which was more than I managed in the previous three months combined. Has anyone else tried a reverse tracker like this, or do you stick with the classic grid even when it's mostly empty?

Did the exact same thing with my water intake. I had this whole color coded week chart and by Tuesday it was a rainbow of shame. Picked up a tiny notebook that literally just says dates and a checkmark on the days I hit eight glasses. Seeing the page fill up with little marks feels like building something instead of staring at holes. Some weeks only have two checkmarks but that's still two more than the chart ever got. Even the bad weeks don't feel as heavy when it's just a short list instead of a giant empty calendar staring back at me.
