My bullet journal turned into a quiet record of the block's changes
I mean, back when I started, my bujo was just for crossing off tasks. Idk, maybe it's just me, but I began noting stuff like when the diner on Elm got a new sign. Now, flipping through old months, I see the empty lot fill up with houses. It's not something I planned, but my simple lists caught all these small shifts. I guess that's the thing with bullet journaling, it grows with you. Looking at those pages, I can almost hear how much quieter our mornings used to be.

You notice the sounds change too? My old notes are full of stuff like when the spring birds showed up, just scribbled next to my grocery list. It's wild how those little things add up.

I heard about a study in Boston that mapped soundscapes over 20 years. They noticed traffic noise has drowned out a lot of the natural sounds in parks. It's wild how much we lose without even realizing. Your note about spring birds really hits home now.

Read a piece about how some city parks now have noise walls just to block highway sound. They played old field recordings from the 90s and you could actually hear more insects and birdsong before the low rumble took over. Makes you wonder what else we're missing.
