My dishwasher died and I found $80 in the filter

Last Tuesday in Austin my dishwasher just stopped mid-cycle with a grinding noise. I pulled the bottom panel and found a melted wiring harness from a leaky seal. Fixed it with a $12 part from Amazon, but while cleaning out the filter I found an old gift card and some change totaling $80. Has anyone else found random cash hiding in busted appliances?

Honestly, an $80 find in a dishwasher filter is wild. Ngl, I'd be more shocked about the melted wiring harness holding up long enough to even get to that filter. Tbh, that $12 fix is the real win here, but finding actual cash hidden away like that feels like the universe hitting a reset button on bad luck. I've found coins and screws in appliance drains before but never bills, especially not a gift card that still had value. Must have been from a family member or something who didn't realize it slipped down there. Either way, that's a solid Tuesday right there.

Pulled $60 out of a broken washing machine pump last year, felt like I won a mini lottery. Always check the damn filter before you toss anything.
