Spent 2 hours on the phone trying to cancel a hostel booking

Booked a room through a third party site, needed to cancel, and now I've been on hold for two hours because the refund policy was buried in the fine print. Has anyone else wasted half a day just trying to get $40 back from Hostelworld?

Friend spent 4 hours for a $30 refund on Booking.com. Brutal.

LOL @umac71 did your friend at least get a free meal out of it? That’s like working a part-time job just to get back what you spent on a decent dinner. I bet they were on hold forever, got transferred 5 times, and had to explain the same story over and over. Honestly, at that point I’d just take the L and swear off that site forever. Four hours of my life is worth way more than $30, no cap.
