Got told my hostel booking was 'too cheap' and it actually helped me
Someone on this forum told me booking a $8 dorm in Bangkok was dumb because I'd waste money on lockers and laundry. Switched to a $12 place with free towels and lockers and saved $30 overall.

Honestly, that "too cheap, you'll waste money" advice is something I never would've thought of until it happened to me. Did you actually track the savings with a phone calculator or just ballpark it in your head? Because I've done the same thing before with a $5 hostel that charged for water refills, and once I added up the locker, towel, and drinking water costs, I ended up at $18 anyway. Ngl, those hidden fees really stack up fast in Southeast Asia.
