Unpopular opinion: I chose bulk lentils over chicken this week for protein and saved $18

I was at the grocery store staring down a pack of chicken thighs for $6.50 a pound versus a 5 pound bag of lentils for $4.80. I grabbed the lentils figuring I'd give it a real shot for dinners. Made a big pot of lentil soup with carrots and onions and it lasted me 4 meals instead of 2 like the chicken would have. My stomach felt fine and my wallet definitely noticed the difference. Anybody else try swapping out meat for beans or lentils and stick with it?

@angelas78 probably just ate her grocery budget for the whole month in three syllables - lentils.

That 5lb bag of lentils stretched way further than any meat pack I've grabbed for the week.
