My neighbor showed me how to stretch a chicken carcass into 3 meals

Old Mrs. Patterson down the street in Philly saw me tossing a rotisserie chicken frame last spring and stopped me cold. She said "honey, that bird's got another two dinners left in it" and walked me through her method right there on the curb. She boiled it with some celery and a bay leaf, picked off the tiny shreds of meat for soup, then used the broth to cook lentils the next day. Has anyone else had an older neighbor teach them a trick that totally changed how you cook?

Old Mrs. Patterson sounds like a legend. @lily230 It's funny how those little tricks from older folks are actually about way more than just food. My grandma taught me to save bacon grease in a coffee can on the stove, and at first I thought it was gross. But now I use it to season green beans and cast iron pans, and it saves me money on cooking oil. Honestly, it's like these older neighbors and relatives figured out how to make the most of everything because they had to, and we're just now catching on.
