Hot take: my friend's 'sad' fridge taught me a cheap meal trick

I was at her place in Austin and she apologized for only having 'random bits'... then she made a killer soup from a leftover chicken carcass, a wrinkly carrot, and half an onion. Anyone else have a go-to 'fridge clean out' recipe that always works?

Honestly, that's not a sad fridge, that's a smart fridge. I've noticed the best home cooks I know treat their fridge like a puzzle box, not a grocery list. There's a real skill in looking at three unrelated things and seeing one good meal. My version is usually just scrambling whatever sad veggies are left into some eggs.

I mean, @robert_rodriguez66, that's just how you get good at anything, right, making something from what you already have.
