I was at the new cafe on Elm Street and their logo on the takeout cup was a completely different color than the one on the door...

It made the whole place feel a bit messy and I'm wondering if a small brand guide for staff could help stop things like that from happening.

Oh man, I totally get that. I used to think those little brand guides were just extra work for no reason. Then I helped a friend open a small shop and we printed a simple one-page color sheet for the printers. It stopped so many mistakes like the one you saw. Having that single source of truth, even a basic one, just makes everything look more put together. It saves a lot of headache down the road.
