My orchid shelf collapse turned into a messy rescue mission

Last Sunday I walked into my sunroom and heard a loud crack. Four of my mounted orchids slid off a cheap metal shelf and dumped bark, moss, and roots all over the floor. I spent the next hour untangling a Dendrobium from a Phalaenopsis that landed together in a heap. A couple of roots snapped off but I repotted everything in fresh bark mix. Has anyone else lost a whole display like this?

Secured mine to the wall with a couple L-brackets and never had a problem again.

Yeah thats a solid point @anthony_jenkins61. I did the same thing with mine after it wobbled loose the third time. Used two L brackets on the bottom corners and it hasnt moved a millimeter since. The key for me was making sure I hit a stud on both sides. If you just screw into drywall those brackets will rip out eventually. I also put a little piece of rubber between the bracket and the unit to stop vibration. Its not a pretty fix but it works and you cant see it anyway.
