Bought a fancy moisture meter and it told me a dry stick was soaking wet

Picked up one of those pin type meters from a garden center in Salem last weekend to check my lemon tree, and it's reading 90% on a branch I snapped off three weeks ago. How does anyone trust these things with expensive plants?

What brand was it? Some of those cheap ones are basically toys.

@anna567 totally agree on that. What made it worse was they used a plastic gear inside that stripped out after like two weeks of normal use. You really gotta watch out for the internals even if the outside looks solid.
