That one Saturday where every hinge screw stripped on me
Had a run of 4 mystery novels come back from a client and all the hinges were popping. Opened them up and every single screw hole was stripped out from over-tightening, probably from whoever did the first bind. Spent like 6 hours in the shop reaming new holes and tapping them with my tiny bench drill, honestly thought I'd toss half the batch. Anyone here deal with screw pullouts on board re-binds? I'm thinking of switching to a different hinge hardware next time.

Ditch the hinges entirely and go back to sewing the boards on. That's the real fix here, not swapping out one piece of hardware for another. You're just playing whack-a-mole with the same problem if the holes keep stripping. Yeah, it's more work upfront, but once those boards are sewn and glued, they aren't going anywhere. I've seen too many machine-made hinges fail on cheap reprints to trust any of them long term.
