Found a neat trick at a library in Portland last week

I was visiting the central library and noticed their repair section uses wax thread instead of nylon for signatures. Does anyone here use wax thread for binding and find it holds up better over time?

Wax thread is amazing (I switched last year and my books lay flat way longer now).

Does the wax hold up better in humid weather too? I tried waxed thread a couple years back on a journal I was making and it was a total game changer for that specific problem. My old books would get all wavy and loose in summer but the wax stuff just stays solid. Plus it doesn't snag on everything like regular thread does, which saves me about ten minutes of cursing per book.
