Warning: don't watch the show right after finishing the book, I ruined a whole weekend doing that
Tbh I finished reading Normal People on a Friday night and started the Hulu show the next morning, and by Sunday I was in a bad mood I could not shake. Every small change the show made, like moving a scene or cutting a line I loved, felt like a personal attack even though the acting was great. I got so worked up that I rewatched the same two episodes twice just to prove the book did it better, which wasted almost 5 hours. Ngl it would have been fine if I had waited a week or two between them. Has anyone else done the back to back thing and hated the show for no real reason?
felt like a personal attack" over a moved scene is a lot, honestly. It's an adaptation, not a remake of your memory of the book, so maybe the weekend wasn't ruined so much as you were just looking for reasons to be mad.
