My mom's take on the LOTR movies vs books still haunts me

Back in 2014 she watched Fellowship with me and said 'the book is better but the movie is more fun' and now I can't enjoy either without thinking about that, does anyone else have a family member whose opinion just stuck with them like that?

and honestly that's kind of the perfect take, the books have all the depth but the movies just move at a better pace for most people. it's like once you hear it you can't unhear it, and now every time i watch i'm just weighing which one i'm in the mood for.
