Spent 3 hours hunting a book debate topic that should have taken 20 minutes
I was on the debate committee for my book club near Columbus and we needed a fresh topic for our next meeting. I figured scrolling through some forums and our old notes would give me a winner fast. Three hours later, I was still digging through old posts about character motivations and plot holes without landing on something that felt new. How do you all actually narrow down a debate topic without spending half a day on it?

I heard someone say you should start with what annoyed you most about the last book that's a good shortcut.

Pull your debate topic straight from the page count or chapter structure instead of character stuff. If the book has a weird pacing issue or a random long chapter that doesn't fit, that's a built-in topic nobody's thought to argue about. Some of our best debates came from looking at how the author structured the story itself.
