Our book club met at a cafe in Denver and the whole vibe was off

We picked this spot because it had a quiet back room, but the music was way too loud for a real talk about 'The Overstory'. I had to repeat my point about the chestnut tree chapter three times before anyone heard me. Half the group gave up and just nodded along instead of really getting into it. It made me wonder how much a place changes what we get from a book. Has your club ever had a meetup spot totally ruin the chat?

Switched to my place, worked way better.

Switching locations fixed it that fast? Sometimes a simple reboot does the same trick. My old laptop acts up at home but runs fine at the office, doesn't mean the problem's gone. Could just be a random wifi blip or background app closing.

Ever think about how the wrong spot can make people just check out mentally, not just miss the words? Barbara_brown39's laptop thing is a good point, but a bad vibe can kill the mood for good.
