My book club nearly fell apart over a single chapter in a 400 page novel
We were 20 minutes into debating chapter 12 of The Vanishing Half at Sarah's apartment last Tuesday and I had to pull out my phone to check the wiki just to prove I wasn't making up the twin switch, which made three people storm off before Jane suggested we all just pick a different book next time, has anyone else had a fight this crazy over a plot point?

oh man that reminds me of what happened to my friend Chloe with her book club. they were fighting over Beloved by Toni Morrison for like an hour because someone said the ghost was just a metaphor and not real in the story and half the group got super offended. like people were literally crying and one girl threw her book at the wall saying she was done with the whole thing. Chloe said she just sat there eating chips watching it all go down because she didnt want to get involved. they ended up switching to a romance novel just to keep the peace but two people never came back after that night. so yeah plot twists can really mess up a whole group vibe.
