Got roasted by my club for picking a 500-page fantasy novel with zero female characters

A member flat-out asked 'Who are we supposed to connect with here?' and now I always check for diverse POVs before suggesting anything. Anyone else get called out on a blind spot in their picks?

Oof, that's rough but honestly kind of fair. I mean, that member had a really good point. It makes me wonder, did you actually notice the lack of female characters while you were reading it, or did it just not cross your mind until someone said something? I feel like that's the real blind spot to figure out.
